At 4C Diamonds, we want you to feel confident when purchasing your natural diamond jewellery from us. If you change your mind about your purchase, or if there is a problem with your jewellery, we are here to help.
This policy applies to purchases made through the 4C Diamonds website.
1. Our Returns Promise
For standard, non-personalised jewellery purchased online, you may return your item within 30 days of receiving your order for a refund, provided the item meets the return conditions below.
This 30-day period is in addition to, and does not limit, your statutory rights under UK consumer law.
Your statutory right to cancel an online purchase normally applies for 14 days from the day after you receive the goods, subject to applicable legal exceptions.
2. Conditions for Returns
To be eligible for a return:
- The jewellery must be returned in its original, unused and unworn condition.
- The item must not have been resized, engraved, altered, repaired or modified.
- All original packaging, jewellery boxes, tags and documentation should be included.
- Any diamond grading report, certificate or other documentation supplied with the jewellery should be returned with the item.
- The jewellery must not show signs of damage, wear, scratches or misuse.
- The item must be securely packaged to prevent damage during transportation.
For security purposes, returns of high-value jewellery may be subject to additional verification before a refund is issued.
3. Personalised, Bespoke and Made-to-Order Jewellery
Jewellery that has been personalised, engraved, individually customised or made specifically to your requirements may not be eligible for cancellation or return if it falls within the legal exemption for goods made to a consumer’s specification or clearly personalised.
Before commencing work on a personalised or bespoke item, we will provide details of the applicable cancellation and return conditions.
If a personalised or bespoke item is faulty, damaged, not as described, or otherwise does not conform to the contract, your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.
4. Diamond and Jewellery Certificates
Where a diamond grading report, certificate or other documentation was supplied with your purchase, it must be returned with the jewellery.
Please take particular care of certificates and documentation as they form an important part of the product information.
If a certificate has been lost or damaged, please contact us before returning the item. We will advise you of the available options.
5. Items That Cannot Be Returned
Unless faulty, damaged or otherwise covered by your statutory rights, the following may not be eligible for return:
- Personalised or engraved jewellery
- Bespoke jewellery made to your specification
- Jewellery that has been resized or altered at your request
- Jewellery that has been resized or altered at your request
- Jewellery that has been repaired or modified after delivery
- Items showing significant signs of wear or damage
This does not affect any rights you have where an item is faulty, not as described or does not conform to the contract.
6. Faulty or Damaged Jewellery
If your jewellery arrives damaged or you believe there is a manufacturing defect, please contact us as soon as possible.
Please provide:
- Your order number
- A description of the issue
- Photographs of the jewellery and packaging where appropriate
We may ask you to return the item for inspection.
Depending on the circumstances and your statutory rights, we may offer a repair, replacement or refund.
We will not charge you for reasonable return costs where the item is faulty, damaged on arrival, or otherwise does not conform to the contract.
7. How to Request a Return
Please contact us before sending your jewellery back.
Include:
- Order number:
- Customer name:
- Email address:
- Reason for return:
We will provide the appropriate return instructions.
For high-value diamond jewellery, we strongly recommend using the insured and tracked return service specified by 4C Diamonds.
Please retain your proof of postage until your return has been processed.
8. Return Shipping
For a change-of-mind return, the customer may be responsible for the direct cost of returning the jewellery unless 4C Diamonds has stated otherwise or the law requires us to cover the cost.
For faulty, damaged or incorrectly supplied items, 4C Diamonds will cover the reasonable cost of return.
For high-value jewellery, please do not send an item using an uninsured or untracked service.
9. Inspection of Returned Jewellery
Every returned item will be inspected before the refund is processed.
We will check:
- The jewellery's condition
- Diamond and gemstone settings
- Hallmarks and identifying marks
- Certificates and documentation
- Packaging and accessories
- Any signs of wear, alteration or damage
This inspection is particularly important for diamond jewellery because of its high value.
Where a customer has handled the goods beyond what would reasonably be permitted in a shop and the goods have consequently been diminished in value, we may be entitled to make a deduction from the refund in accordance with applicable law.
10. Refunds
Once your return has been received and inspected, we will process any refund due to you.
Where the statutory cancellation right applies, refunds will be made in accordance with applicable UK consumer law.
Refunds will normally be made using the same payment method used for the original purchase, unless otherwise agreed with you.
The refund will normally include the cost of the standard delivery option paid at the time of purchase where required by law. Any additional amount paid for an upgraded delivery service may not be refundable.
Your payment provider may take additional time to show the refund in your account.
11. Exchanges
If you would prefer an alternative size or another eligible product, please contact us.
Where an exchange is available, the original jewellery must meet the return conditions described above.
Personalised, bespoke or made-to-order jewellery may not be eligible for exchange.
12. Order Cancellation Before Dispatch
If you change your mind after placing an order, please contact us as soon as possible.
If the order has not yet been dispatched or production has not commenced, we will make reasonable efforts to cancel the order.
For personalised, bespoke or made-to-order items, cancellation may not be possible once production or customisation has commenced.
13. Important Consumer Rights
Nothing in this Refund & Returns Policy affects your statutory rights under UK consumer law.
You have legal rights where goods are faulty, not as described, not fit for purpose or otherwise do not conform to the contract.
For online purchases, statutory cancellation rights may also apply.
Where this policy provides rights that are more generous than the law requires, those additional rights are provided by 4C Diamonds on the terms stated in this policy.
